OAD Annual Call for Proposals Open

The Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) is happy to announce the launch of its 11th Annual Call for Proposals for projects that use astronomy as a tool to address one or more challenges related to sustainable development. The call for proposals is open to anyone from anywhere in the world. It is conducted in two stages, where only a limited number of proposals from Stage 1 will be invited to submit a Stage 2 proposal. Projects selected through this call will be implemented in 2023.

Deadline for Stage 1 is May 31, 2022 (midnight UTC-12) – basically the call will close when it is not May 31 anywhere in the world.

Note: A new theme included in this call is ‘Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development’, in view of the United Nations resolution recognizing 2022 as the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD). Since basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, and mathematics are an essential part of astronomy, the OAD invites proposals for projects that use any field(s) of basic science(s) in the pursuit of one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
