Regional Offices
Regional Nodes and Language Expertise Centres are offices based around the world with similar objectives as the OAD but with regional focus. These offices work closely with the OAD in order to implement the IAU Strategic Plan. “Regions” which they focus on could be geographical (neighbouring countries) or cultural (language or cultural similarities spread over a large geographic region).
These are the current OAD Regional Offices around the world.
The IAU is the worldwide organisation of professional astronomers regardless of borders. The designations employed and the presentation of the material on our maps do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the IAU or the IAU OAD concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.
