Andean

  • The Office attended the IAUGA2022 in Busan, South Korea
  • And provided input on the proposals submitted to the 2022 OAD annual call 2022
  • Planning a hackathon in Lima 2023

Arab

  • The office organized, with the Jordanian Astronomical Society (JAS), the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Science (AUASS) and some other Jordanian & Arab institutions, several public lectures, seminars, and courses via Zoom

East Africa

  • The office participated in the IAU General Assembly in Busan and contributed talk on ‘Towards a World Standard for Dark and Quiet Sky Protection
  • The East African Office along with the Ethiopian Space Science and geospatial Institute (SSGI) announced the opening of abstracts and registration for the IAU386 symposium on Dark sky and astronomical heritage in boosting astro-tourism
  • East African ROAD country representatives and a large number of East African young astronomers, researchers attended the Sub-Saharan Africa Astronomy Summer School (SSAASS) in Uganda from 19-30 Sept 2022

East Asia

  • Working on a draft “Preliminary Study on Promotion of Economic Development Brought by Astronomical Science Popularization in Lijiang, Yunnan Province”
  • The office took part in the International workshop “Educational Psychology and Astronomy for Mental health”  Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar 19-21, May 2022

Europe

  • The office is preparing for upcoming visits within the Erasmus+ Twinning programme
  • And also preparing for the implementation of the Student Mobility Award from the Visegrad fund

North America

  • The office is conducting dissemination/educator training for the IDATA Afterglow Access Software
  • NA ROAD will manage a grant from Heising-Simon Foundation for the Women & Girls in Astronomy programme

Portuguese Language

  • The PLOAD office created a group dedicated to promote asteroid search campaign involving students from PLOAD countries, led by Alvaro Folhas (Portugal) (September)
  • Planning of face-to-face meeting in 2023 in Brazil with support from the Brazilian Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications Ministry.

South East Asia

  • Official visit to LAO PDR by SEAROAD led by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The visit included the courtesy call granted by the Prime Minister of LAO PDR and the planetarium and observatory being-built in Vientiane which is inspired by SEAROAD
  • SEA+ Translation project continues in Cambodia and Timor-Leste. This project is aimed to encourage the people in SEA region and beyond to get the astronomy booklets in their own languages.
  • The ITCA Colloquium workshop co-hosted by SEAROAD and Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC) titled “Astronomy and Space Technology for STEAM Education” took place in Da Nang, Vietnam during 23-25 September 2022

South West And Central Asia

  • 8th Byurakan Science Camp (8BSC) with participation of 40 school pupils as well as the 8th Byurakan International Summer School
  • International Conference “Space Sciences & Technologies” (SS&T) with participation of many Armenian and 7 regional scientists, as well as from neighboring Arab World ROAD
  • IAU Past President Ewine van Dishoeck visited the Byurakan Observatory, host of the SWCA ROAD, and gave a talk on JWST

Southern Africa

  • The Pan African School of Emerging Astronomers (PASEA) will go ahead in October 2022

West Africa

  • The office collaborates with the North American ROAD on the SEA Survey project which provides students the opportunity to conduct remote observing with the 0.5-meter Stone Edge Observatory telescope.
