Apply to Warwick Astronomy Knowledge Exchange

The Warwick Astronomy Knowledge Exchange programme (WAKE), a collaboration between the Warwick University Astronomy Group, the Office of Astronomy for Development and the Warwick Ethnic Minorities in Physics Network, aims to increase the diversity of people applying for opportunities at Warwick especially from countries under-represented in the field of astronomy.

With the help of the OAD’s 11 Regional Offices, WAKE will select and invite 6 participants from countries with under-represented astronomy programmes to go to Warwick University. WAKE will also fund 2–3-week travel exchanges for Warwick students/staff for collaborative visits abroad.

Essential Criteria

  • Come from an under-represented background in Astronomy (worldwide)
  • Want to pursue a career in Astronomy
  • Strong working knowledge of English, both written and oral, B1/B2
  • Have a Master’s degree or equivalent level in a Science Technology Engineering or Maths related subject
  • Be able to demonstrate that they will benefit from the programme

Preference will be given to candidates

  • who come from a country under-represented in the field of astronomy
  • who are interested in doing a PhD or applying for a position at Warwick University
  • who are interested in sharing their experiences with their home institute / fellow astronomers.
  • whose interests are aligned with the research interests of the Warwick Astronomy Group
