The OAD is glad to announce that the African Planetarium Association (APA) will be contributing financially to the Extraordinary Call for COVID-19 related Proposals. This will further enable the astronomy community to support people at this critical time.

Deadline: May 15, 2020

A brief statement from the APA:
The African Planetarium Association is dedicated to connecting African planetarians, share useful information and resources, and empower and encourage science literacy throughout the continent. Planetaria play a huge role in disseminating ideas and concepts through a powerful immersive experience and therefore an important tool to inspire the next generation of scientists. Although very young, APA is already an affiliate of the International Planetarium Society (IPS), looking to growing its membership and contributing to the wider world of STEM.

Planetarians are STEM ambassadors who passionately communicate the work of researchers, inventors, thinkers and engineers to the public.  Now, more than ever we need to support their roles; the solutions to this current pandemic will only come through problem solving.  This is why we’d like to play a small role during these difficult and uncertain times and support the OAD extraordinary call for the Covid-19 pandemic.
